Moldova is marking 35 years of independence from the Soviet Union on Thursday with ceremonies, a military parade and a concert in the capital, Chișinău. More than 2,000 service members and over 100 military and Interior Ministry vehicles are due to take part in the parade on Great National Assembly Square, according to the Moldovan government. President Maia Sandu will host Romanian President Nicușor Dan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later in the day. The three leaders are scheduled to hold a trilateral meeting and make joint press statements before addressing crowds in the evening. Sandu attended Ukraine’s Independence Day events in Kyiv on Monday, to demonstrate the close ties between the two countries as Russia’s war continues.
