Polish goalkeeper Kamil Grabara has joined Juventus, one of Italy’s most successful and iconic clubs, on a one-year loan. The 27-year-old moves to the Turin side from Wolfsburg after the club was relegated from Germany’s top division last season. The loan deal includes an option to sign the player permanently for around €12 million. Grabara, who has six caps for the Polish national team, established himself as a regular starter in Germany over the last two years, following a successful stint with FC Copenhagen in Denmark. Originally from Ruda Śląska in the Silesia region of southern Poland, he played as a youngster for local club Ruch Chorzów before signing for English powerhouses Liverpool.Polish joy at Juve Grabara is not the first Polish keeper to represent Juventus in recent history. He follows in the footsteps of Wojciech Szczęsny, who won the Italian league three times during his seven-year spell at the club from Turin from 2017 to 2024. While Szczęsny’s stint was certainly memorable, the Pole who had the biggest impact on the club’s history is undoubtedly Zbigniew Boniek. Nicknamed “Zibi,” the gifted winger helped Juventus lift the European Cup – the predecessor of the Champions League – in 1985, and scored 31 times in 133 appearances for the club across all competitions.
