Zelenskyy said Russia had targeted “regular people and civilian infrastructure.” Two grandparents and their grandson were killed in the village of Pukhivka, 15 kilometers from the capital, the Ukrainian president said in a post on X. He added that four more people were hospitalized after a “double-tap strike”: the child’s parents, his 15-year-old brother and a neighbor who came to help. “It was an ordinary residential building,” Zelenskyy wrote. “The Russians could not have been unaware of this.” The post also said that six ballistic missiles had struck civilian infrastructure in Kyiv, killing one person. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv regional administration, said Russian strikes were recorded at three locations in the Brovary district, near the capital. In Kyiv itself, fires were reported in two districts after an air raid alert, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. The Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv and Poltava regions also came under attack, Zelenskyy said. Ukraine is chronically short of air defenses capable of intercepting Russia's ballistic missiles, and Zelenskyy reiterated his calls to Western allies to increase supplies, particularly Patriot interceptor missiles. Calling for increased pressure on Moscow, Zelenskyy accused Vladimir Putin of “clinging to his ballistic missiles and drones to keep the war going.”
