The opening stage runs 234 kilometers from Gdynia to Koszalin and is expected to favor sprinters. Later stages include the Orlinek climb in Karpacz, a demanding finish at the Kocierz Resort and the mountainous Bukowina Tatrzańska route, before the race concludes on August 9 with a 12.4-kilometer individual time trial at the Wieliczka Salt Mine near Krakow. The Tour de Pologne, Poland’s oldest and most prestigious cycling race, was first held in 1928. It was transformed from an amateur competition into a professional event after Olympic medalist Czesław Lang took charge in 1993, making it part of the UCI ProTour in 2005.
