Modi met Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava, where the two sides discussed cooperation in defense, digital technology, artificial intelligence and industry. India’s Foreign Ministry said the countries elevated relations to a “comprehensive partnership.” The visit puts new focus on Slovakia’s automotive sector, one of the most important in Europe and a major pillar of the country’s export-driven economy. Jaguar Land Rover, owned by India’s Tata Motors, already operates a major plant in the western Slovak city of Nitra. For Bratislava and other Central European capitals, stronger links with India offer access to one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies.
