The planned system would use Mercedes vehicles, including Sprinter vans and military-grade G-Class platforms, together with Tytan’s Drone Defender technology, designed to detect and neutralize small first-person-view drones. The team-up comes as European governments seek cheaper, scalable defenses against the types of drones used widely in Russia’s war against Ukraine. Other German carmakers are also exploring the defense sector. Volkswagen has held talks linked to Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, while Mercedes-Benz has reportedly discussed production capacity with Franco-German tank maker KNDS.
