Warsaw has sent deputy defense ministers to Washington for talks with US officials, while Polish military leaders are also holding consultations with NATO commanders. Tusk said Poland remained one of Washington’s most loyal allies, pointing to major purchases of US military equipment and the country’s role on NATO’s eastern flank. General Wiesław Kukuła, Poland’s chief of the General Staff, is due to discuss the issue in Brussels with General Alexus Grynkewich, commander of US European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe. Poland hosts roughly 10,000 US troops on its soil, one of the largest American military presences in Europe after Germany.
