The EA‑18G Growler jets, assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 129 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington state, were performing an aerial demonstration at the Gunfighter Skies air show when the collision occurred. Officials said all four crew members were in stable condition and no other injuries were reported. The crash prompted an immediate lockdown at the base and the cancellation of the remainder of the event. The cause of the collision is under investigation. The Gunfighter Skies air show was the first held at the Idaho base since 2018, with a program that included aerobatic displays, parachute jumps and a scheduled appearance by the US Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration squadron.
