Trail‑camera footage shows the bear bathing in a small pond before rubbing and scratching against an old tree, a behaviour bears use to mark territory and communicate through scent. The animal was later seen moving through the forest in search of food as warmer weather returned to the Carpathians. Brown bears in Poland live mainly in the country’s southern mountain ranges, including the Bieszczady and Tatras. Their numbers remain limited, but conservationists and officials say populations in parts of the Carpathians have been rising.
