Poczobut, a longtime political prisoner and leading figure in Belarus’s Polish minority, returned to Poland last week after more than five years behind bars. His release was part of a broader prisoner exchange involving Belarus, Poland and other countries, facilitated with US involvement. The two presidents also discussed the current security situation, the presence of US troops in Europe and the state of the Polish‑American alliance. According to the Polish president’s office, both leaders reaffirmed the alliance’s strength and importance for regional and transatlantic security.
