In comments to TVP World’s sister station Belsat TV, Bialiatski said pressure from the US and EU should continue, but stressed that restrictions should hit the regime and its inner circle rather than ordinary Belarusians. He also said Belarusians should be allowed to continue to travel abroad, arguing that they need outside contact, access to information and opportunities to study or visit relatives in other countries. Rights group Viasna says more than 900 political prisoners are still being held in Belarus.
