Speaking at a joint press conference with North Macedonian Foreign Minister Timčo Mucunski in Warsaw, Sikorski said the region should belong not only to the Western alliance but also to Europe’s broader political family. Mucunski backed the call, saying EU enlargement carries added importance during a period of geopolitical instability marked by Russia’s war in Ukraine and outside attempts to influence the Balkans. He said enlargement sends not only an economic and trade signal, but also a political and security message to the region and the wider continent.
