Election monitor CRTA challenged the integrity of the vote, citing irregularities including pressure on voters, violations of ballot secrecy and organized transportation of voters, and said the process could hardly be considered a proper election. Analysts say the local results may not translate into the same success nationwide, particularly in larger urban centers where voter intimidation is more difficult.
