Neptun Deep, jointly developed by OMV Petrom and Romgaz, is Romania’s first deepwater offshore gas project and is expected to begin production in 2027. Fico said Slovakia could use its existing infrastructure to receive the gas on a commercial basis as it prepares for the planned end of Russian energy imports. The remarks highlight growing regional interest in Romanian offshore gas as Central European countries look to diversify supplies and reduce dependence on Russian energy.
