PEJ said the deal marks the first such agreement between a U.S. government lending agency and a Polish entity. The loan will fund feasibility, engineering and environmental studies, and will also help refinance earlier work carried out by the U.S. consortium Westinghouse–Bechtel. The plant, planned for Choczewo in northern Poland, is expected to come online in the mid-2030s and is projected to cost at least €45 billion.
