Polish Development Fund head Piotr Matczuk says outward investment is only 4% of GDP, compared with 20% in Hungary and the Czech Republic. Geoff Gottlieb, head of the International Monetary Fund’s mission to Poland, believes that Poland excels at exports but its companies “have not really scaled into pan-European brands.” Matczuk added that interest in expansion is growing, however, particularly in the direction of Germany, the wider EU and the United States.
