The pilot program began on the weekend of November 22-23, with Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz saying the scheme is designed to strengthen civilian preparedness, not recruit new soldiers. Some modules are already underway, including an eight-hour safety course. Volunteers say they want practical skills to protect their families in a crisis. While the training does not lead to military service, a separate reserve track exists. Poland aims to train more than 500,000 people by the end of 2026.
