Standing about 4.5 meters high and equipped with barbed wire, mesh fencing, surveillance cameras and sensors, the barrier is part of Finland’s and Europe’s broader strategy to counter hybrid threats, including drone incursions and other transboundary risks. With support from Frontex and other EU border-security resources, Finnish officials say the barrier will strengthen national and European resilience and will be integrated with efforts to build a “drone wall” along Europe’s eastern flank.
