Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and Patriarch Daniel of Romania led the ceremony, attended by around 3,000 guests and watched by thousands of pilgrims outside. Among attendees were Romanian President Nicuşor Dan, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Moldova’s President Maia Sandu and former presidential candidate George Simion. Standing 132 meters tall, the cathedral has the world’s heaviest free-swinging bell.
