Speaking to TVP World on Sunday, Bielecki recalled Poland’s role in 1991 as the first nation to recognize Ukraine’s independence. He stressed that peace guarantees without strong enforcement are unreliable, citing Russia’s violation of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, an agreement in which Ukraine gave up the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal in exchange for assurances of sovereignty and territorial integrity. <br><br> Bielecki added that Ukraine’s EU accession must be accelerated and urged Hungary to drop its opposition to the process. The former PM also argued in favor of deeper military cooperation between Warsaw and Kyiv.
