In an exclusive interview with TVP World, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos warned that maintaining independent oversight of the government and its institutions is an important factor in the EU accession process. <br><br> The new law, which hands presidential appointees oversight of key agencies, has sparked rare wartime protests in Ukraine and prompted the country’s president to issue a statement saying he is committed to ensuring the independence of anti-corruption bodies – despite the fact that he signed the controversial bill less than 24 hours before.<br><br> TVP World’s John Todd has the story.
