Poland's export of high-tech goods increased for the thirteenth consecutive year in 2024 reaching a record value of €37.25 billion with fast growing share of arm exports, the state-owned Polish Development Fund (PFR) has reported.
In the report, made available to the Polish Press Agency (PAP) on Saturday, PFR quoted preliminary data from Poland's Statistical Office which showed that last year's high-tech exports were 10.1 percent higher than a year earlier.
“The share of high technologies in Poland's total merchandise exports increased to 10.6 percent from 9.6 percent in 2023 and was at the highest level in the history of available data (since 2007)” the report read.
PFR added that Polish armaments are playing an increasingly important role in the export of high-tech goods.
“After the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine, arms exports and their share in the total high-tech exports increased significantly. In 2021, the share was still small and amounted to 0.5 percent, now it has increased to 7.1 percent,” it reported.
The report also presented data on Poland spending on research and development which in 2023 reached €11.7 billion, an increase of 22.6 percent year on year and of 926 percent compared to 2004, when Poland joined the EU.
