Time magazine has named Warsaw’s brand-new Museum of Modern Art one of “The World’s Greatest Places,” saying it symbolizes the Polish capital’s evolution beyond its communist past.

Described by Time as a “shiny new snow-white cube,” the museum features on the list alongside other destinations judged to be exceptional places to stay or must-visit attractions.

Among the other top tips are the Nangma Valley in Pakistan, known for its breathtaking Himalayan trails; the newly restored Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris; and The Ghan, a luxurious journey through the Australian Outback.

Warsaw's Museum of Modern Art, which opened last October, stands out from the crowd on Time’s list: a subtle cube beside much flashier giants.

Located near the brutalist Palace of Culture and Science, the building was designed by U.S.-based architects Thomas Phifer and Partners.
It features a striking double staircase and an open, light-filled interior and serves as the first permanent home for the museum, which operated nomadically for nearly two decades.

The modern art hotspot was also named “the world’s top opening” on travel guide Lonely Planet’s list of must-visit cultural institutions for the year.

The museum’s inaugural exhibition, The Impermanent, showcases over 150 works from its extensive collection of Polish and international contemporary art.

Outside the museum, visitors can witness the transformation of Plac Defilad, one of Europe’s largest public squares, where new walkways and green spaces are being constructed.

The upcoming TR Warszawa Theatre, designed by the same architects, is also part of the evolving cityscape.
