A large fire broke out in a luxury apartment complex in central Moscow on Monday, sending a column of thick, black smoke into the air, local press reported.

The blaze engulfed the top floors of the “Roza Rossa” residential building in the Russian capital’s Khamovniki district.

Seventy firefighters were dispatched to the scene and were able to fully extinguish the blaze, Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry said on its Telegram channel.

The ministry added that it was notified of the incident at around 1 p.m. local time. According to Telegram news channel Ostorozhno Moskva, the fire erupted during building work on the top floor before spreading.

No suggestion of any suspicious activity was mentioned in media reports.

The complex was designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni. It has a swimming pool and offers residents service from Moscow’s Metropol Hotel, according to the developer’s website.
