A new sand spit that emerged from the Baltic Sea in northern Poland a few weeks ago has become an instant attraction, with flocks of visitors arriving daily.

The site, near the village of Mikoszewo, has even officially been given its own postcode by the Polish Post Office.

It was created by sea currents that carried sand and gradually shaped the new landform, along which visitors can take a short stroll.

The spit appeared in early February and has drawn comparisons with the Hel Peninsula, the much-visited and larger landform that stretches out into the Baltic Sea further to the west.

The new stretch of sand, around 100 meters long, is proving particularly popular due to its picturesque location, which looks stunning in photos and videos.

Local tourist website namierzeje.pl hailed it as the “biggest attraction of the season” along the Polish Baltic coast.
