The Polish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement “deploring” the renewed hostilities and civilian casualties in Gaza after Israel resumed its assault on the territory on Tuesday.
Local health authorities put the death toll for Tuesday’s strikes at around 400 and more deaths were reported on Wednesday morning following further Israeli attacks.
The bombardment left a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel in tatters and also came around a fortnight after Israel blocked all humanitarian aid into Gaza.
In a statement published on the X platform, the Foreign Ministry said: “Poland deplores the renewed hostilities and civilian casualties from airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.
“We urge all parties to cease fighting and fully implement the ceasefire to enable the release of all hostages and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid.”
It also reiterated Poland’s commitment to a “lasting and sustainable peace based on a two-state solution.”
Tuesday also saw two people arrested outside the Israeli embassy in Warsaw during a protest by about 70 people against the airstrikes.

“Just after 6:00 p.m., two people participating in the gathering threw a glass bottle and a plastic container with a red substance towards the embassy, damaging the building's fence,” the police said in a statement.
According to lawyers from a legal collective called Kolektyw Szpila who represented the activists, one person was charged with obstructing traffic and destruction of property.
Both people were released from detention after four hours and deny the charges.
One activist present at the demonstration, Lucy (a pseudonym), described Israel’s actions to TVP World as “outrageous.”
“Once again Israel is using the excuse of fighting terrorists to kill innocent people,” she said, adding that she wants Poland to sever diplomatic ties with Netanyahu's government.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, has linked the resumption of fighting to attempts to get Hamas to release hostages, warning that “this is just the beginning.”
