A routine traffic stop in northern Poland took an unexpected turn when police pulled over a Ukrainian driver only to find he was using a Soviet-era driving license.
Officers in the seaside city of Gdynia had spotted the 52-year-old driver going 33 km/h over the speed limit on Tuesday evening.
But when they pulled him over and asked for his documents, the man handed over a license issued by the now-defunct USSR.
Because his license was three decades past its expiration date, a court motion was also filed for driving without valid documents.

Informing him that his retro paperwork was no longer valid as the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the officers then slapped him with an PLN 800 (€190) fine for speeding.ZATRZYMANY DO KONTROLI DROGOWEJ ZA PRZEKROCZENIE PRĘDKOŚCI 52-LATEK OKAZAŁ PRAWO JAZDY WYDANE PRZEZ ZSRR
