Russia launched an attack on Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, early Wednesday, killing one person and injuring four, emergency services have said.
Local media reported fires at a number of locations in the capital, with emergency services still working to contain the damage on Wednesday morning.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko posted on the Telegram app: “One person was killed in the Podilskyi district, according to preliminary information. In the Darnytskyi district, a fire broke out on the territory of a private enterprise.”
The Kyiv Post reported that over a dozen explosions were heard at around 4:30 a.m. local time and that Russia had launched four Iskander ballistic missiles at the city as well as numerous attack drones.
The paper said much of the damage had been caused by falling debris from intercepted targets.
Ukrinform also reported the Regional Military Administration as saying no critical infrastructure had been hit in the attack.
