Poland’s star six-a-side footballer, Norbert Jaszczak, has been named Socca Hero 2024—the sport's equivalent of the Ballon d'Or in traditional 11-a-side football.
Announcing the award on Monday, the International Socca Federation (ISF) heaped praise on the 25-year-old, describing him as one of the “deadliest forces on the pitch.”
In a statement, the ISF said: “Some players score goals. Some defend. Norbert made history.
“The Polish superstar dominated every competition he played in, finishing as the top scorer in almost all of the tournaments last year.

“Instinct, passion, and immense strength made him one of the deadliest forces on the pitch and a true Socca Hero.”
At the Socca World Cup in Oman last December, the Polish forward finished as the tournament's top scorer with eight goals, showcasing his lethal attacking ability.
Despite Poland's early exit from the World Cup, falling to Romania in the quarterfinals, Jaszczak’s individual expertise did not go unnoticed.
Claiming the top spot ahead of Mutasim Al-Shamsi of Oman and Brazil’s Pedro Pereira, who both also had outstanding seasons, he was also offered a trial with Polish Ekstraklasa club Puszcza Niepołomice in January.
But the 25-year-old decided to turn it down, preferring to stay with six-a-side socca.
He told football website PolskaPiłka.pl: “When I became the top scorer in the World Cup in socca, I don't have to do anything anymore and I have millions in my account.
“Normally, I work like any other person, a year ago I was in the army, and not so long ago I was promoted to the position of a professional soldier, so it is also a kind of alternative.”
