Poland’s top tennis player, Hubert Hurkacz, has advanced to the ATP 500 semifinal in Rotterdam to face against world’s 3rd ranked Carlos Alcaraz.
Hubert Hurkacz, seeded eighth in the tournament, won 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4 against Rublev in a match that stretched late into Friday night.
The victory marks a breakthrough for the Polish player, who had never progressed beyond the second round in Rotterdam before this year. Prior to his quarterfinal win, he defeated Italy’s Flavio Cobolli and the Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehecka.
The match against Rublev was their sixth encounter, with Hurkacz now leading their head-to-head record 4-2.
