Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery 200 km southeast of Moscow and a microelectronics plant 100 km from the Ukrainian border early on Friday, the General Staff in Kyiv said.
The attacks, which involved special operations forces, targeted infrastructure linked to Russia’s military capabilities, according to the General Staff.
The strikes caused fires at the Ryazan Oil Refining Company and a nearby oil pumping station, the General Staff said in a statement on Facebook.
The Kremniy El microelectronics plant in Bryansk, western Russia, was also hit.
The plant makes components used in strategic weapons systems, including the Topol-M and Bulava nuclear-capable missile systems, S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft systems, and the onboard electronics of combat aircraft.
Ukraine did not say what the extent of the damage was, stating only that the impact of the latest strikes was being verified.
Russia’s defense ministry claimed 121 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across 11 regions overnight between Thursday and Friday, including one over Moscow and others in Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.
