Wizz Air has resumed flights to Tel Aviv from three Polish cities after a three-month break due to military conflicts in the region.

The Thursday decision follows the announcement of a long-awaited ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, which is expected to come into force starting on Sunday.

Wizz Air, along with many other western airlines, suspended flights to the Middle East in October last year due to security concerns and the danger of being caught in an accidental drone or missile attack.

The company said that the Polish cities resuming their three-times-a-week flights are Katowice, Krakow and Warsaw.

Wizz Air has also restarted flights from London Luton, an important changeover destination, to the capitals of Israel and Jordan.

The Hungarian airline is one of the first to cash in on the peace deal in the Middle East.

Germany’s Lufthansa has also decided to resume flights to the region, starting from February 1, but it has not yet returned to business as usual, with flights to Tehran in Iran and Beirut in Lebanon still grounded.

Other western airlines remain cautious but are expected to follow suit.

Air France–KLM said that “it will resume operations on the basis of an assessment of the situation on the ground.”
