Poland’s Aleksandra Król-Walas has won the Parallel Giant Slalom in the eastern Swiss region of Scuol, her second win in this competition series.
The Pole’s first win in this series was in Simonhöhe, Austria, in January 2022.
In the preliminaries, the 34-year-old Król-Walas had the third time. She later eliminated American Iris Pflum in the 1/8 finals (she was 0.06 seconds ahead of her), and in the quarterfinals she beat Austrian Sabine Payer. In the semifinals she won against Dutch Michelle Dekker (her opponent also did not finish), and in the finals she defeated Japanese Tsubaki Miki (by 0.23 seconds).
The Polish athlete stood on the podium of the World Cup competition for the ninth time in her career, and the fourth time this season. In November and December last year in China’s Mylin and Italy's Carezza and Cortina d'Ampezzo she was second.
Other Poles who qualified in the competition include Olimpia Kwiatkowska (19th place), Weronika Dawidek (26th) and Oskar Kwiatkowski (23rd).
