Poland’s natural gas storage facilities are at 86% capacity, operator Gas Storage Poland announced on Monday.
The EU has prioritized winter gas storage to protect against supply disruptions from Russia, which has used energy as leverage against Europe following its invasion of Ukraine.
The current levels, while lower than the 98% reported in early November, align with a European Union regulation requiring member states to maintain at least 90% capacity by November 1.
The rule, introduced after Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, aims to reduce dependency on Russian energy supplies and ensure sufficient reserves for winter.
