Former Polish tennis star and World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwańska has joined her fellow Pole Magda Linette's coaching staff.

Linette, who is currently No. 38 in the world rankings, enthusiastically announced the news on Wednesday.

“Someone pinch me! Agnieszka Radwańska just joined my team!” Linette wrote on the social media platform X.

The idea of contacting Radwańska came from Linette's first coach, Mark Gellard.

“I was incredibly delighted that Agnieszka Radwańska wanted to join my team,” Linette told Polish tennis podcast Break Point.

“Honestly, it was a surprise for me. I was very hesitant to ask because I didn't think at all that Agnieszka would want to come back to the tour, to travel and that she would want to help me. I was incredibly touched,” she said.

“For now, it's supposed to be eight, ten weeks of working together. Until the end of winter. I'm absolutely delighted and very happy. I can't wait for the preparations,” she added.

Linette, from Poznań in western Poland, recently announced that she was parting ways with one of her coaches, Iain Hughes, which left a vacancy for Radwańska to fill.

Prior to the Iga Świątek era, Radwańska was the only Polish woman playing in the top tier of the sport. She won 20 WTA tournaments, and in 2012 she reached the Wimbledon final.

Linette has enjoyed the most prosperous period of her career during the past two years, reaching the Australian Open semifinal in 2023. She won the Prague Open in July this year and played a pivotal role in Poland's progress to the quarterfinals of the Billie Jean King Cup.
