While the World Swimming Championships start tomorrow in Budapest, all eyes in Poland are on a pair of young twins who have taken the swimming world by storm.

Hailing from Warsaw, Michał and Krzysztof Chmielewski have been tipped for greatness after dominating at the junior level.

Now 20 years old, the brothers first came to international attention in the 2021 European Junior Championships when Krzysztof scooped gold in the 200-meter butterfly and Michał took silver.

The following year, the twins repeated this exact same feat.

Going from strength to strength, the 2022 World Junior Championships in Lima saw the pair again register first and second on the podium places.
Now competing at the senior level, the duo has shown no signs of slowing down, with Krzysztof scoring silver at the World Championship and coming close to setting a Polish national record.

Although studying in the U.S. at the University of Southern California, the Chmielewski brothers have not let their studies interfere with their swimming.

Called up for Poland’s Olympic squad, both gained valuable experience in Paris, with Krzysztof finishing fourth in the 200-meter butterfly final and Michał just missing out on the final by three hundredths of a second.

Looking to finish the year on a high, the pair return to international action at this week’s championships in Budapest.
