Czech volunteers have raised enough money to buy more than 20,000 drones for the Ukrainian military.

Activists under the banner of the Skupina D group gathered 203.7 million Czech crowns—that’s €8 million—over the last year.

The funds will cover the cost of over 20,000 FPV Nemesis drones, 15,000 of which have been purchased to date.

Around 12,000 are already in the hands of Ukrainian forces, with an additional 3,000 scheduled for delivery by Christmas, according to news agency Ukrinform.

“The solidarity of the Czechs is gratifying,” said Ondřej Vetchý, a founder of Skupina D and a prominent Czech actor, during a press conference in Prague.

He noted that the original fundraising target of 100 million crowns was launched two days before Christmas last year.

The Nemesis drones, designed by Czech modelers and veterans, offer real-time video transmission and are tailored to meet the specific needs of Ukrainian forces.
Drones are considered a cost-effective alternative to traditional equipment, combining high efficiency with versatility, according to the fundraising project’s website.

Meanwhile, Skupina D has launched a new initiative, Operation Just Retribution, aimed at raising funds for 100 tons of plastic explosives and other materials for Ukraine’s forces.

The campaign says that it has so far raised 84,000 crowns, enough to procure 42 kilograms of explosives. These will be delivered via the Ukrainian Embassy in Prague.

Skupina D’s name refers to a World War II-era unit that trained Czechoslovak paratroopers in the U.K. The Czech Republic has been a strong supporter of Ukraine, providing extensive military and humanitarian aid alongside EU-backed initiatives.
