An illegal meat processing operation has been busted by police after they raided a warehouse near Bydgoszcz in central Poland.

The discovery came after officers specializing in economic crimes uncovered the facility while verifying reports of unregistered activities involving meat production for kebabs.

Inside the warehouse, they found multiple plastic crates filled with meat and a woman cutting up slabs of raw meat.

In total, 1,600 kilograms of frozen meat and approximately 200 kilograms of raw meat were seized. The estimated value of the confiscated meat is 70,000 złoty (around €16,000).

A district veterinarian who was present during the police operation said: “This meat lacked veterinary markings and had not undergone proper inspections.”

Commissioner Lidia Kowalska from the Police Headquarters in Bydgoszcz said that the investigation remains in its early stages.

“The case is ongoing, and what consequences will follow will be determined by the proceedings,” she said.

Authorities are now looking into whether the uninspected meat has been distributed to the market.
