LOT Polish Airlines is on track to smash is pre-pandemic passenger records as it aims to hit a whopping 10.5 million travelers by the end of the year.

At the end of October, the airline had already transported over 9 million passengers and is now confident of breaking its 2019 record of 10 million passengers.

LOT spokesman Krzysztof Moczulski said: “This year will be record-breaking,” adding that final figures will be available in December.

The carrier’s fleet is also expanding, with 86 aircraft expected by the end of 2024, including 11 new additions such as the fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX-8 and the latest Embraer 195-E2 jets.

LOT currently serves 81 destinations, with plans to increase to 83 by the end of the year.

This year saw the launch of nine new routes, including Athens, Riyadh and Lisbon, with flights to Tenerife commencing next week.

“Routes to tourist-oriented destinations like Larnaca and Athens have seen excellent seat occupancy, and we expect Tenerife to replicate this success,” Moczulski said.

The airline’s expansion aligns with its 2024-2028 strategy, focusing on the tourism hotspots while maintaining strong connections to key European and intercontinental destinations.

LOT operates long-haul flights to North America, Asia, and Europe using Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Established in 1929, LOT is among the oldest airlines in the world. It achieved its first cumulative million passengers in 1955 and now stands as one of Poland’s leading international brands.

The Polish State Treasury holds a 69.3% stake in LOT, with the remaining 30.7% owned by the Polish Aviation Group.
