Poland’s women’s amputee football team has secured a historic 5-0 win against Brazil, advancing to the quarterfinals in the World Cup held in Colombia.

Led by coaches Igor Woźniak and Marcin Oleksy, the Polish team came into the game with a must-win mindset after a narrow 0-1 loss to host nation Colombia in their tournament opener.

Less than two minutes into an exhilarating match on Tuesday, team captain Anna Raniewicz made history by scoring Poland’s first-ever goal in a women’s amputee World Cup match.

This early lead set the tone for an impressive Polish offense, with Justyna Bzdela extending the score to 2-0 in the 10th minute. Raniewicz struck again before halftime, making it 3-0, and sending the team into the break with high spirits.

Poland continued their dominance in the second half. In the 29th minute, Weronika Nowotny delivered a sharp pass to Monika Kukla, who netted the ball, increasing Poland’s lead.

Just three minutes later, Kukla scored again, capitalizing on a Brazilian defensive error, sealing the final score at 5-0.

The commanding victory, Poland’s first in the tournament, means they advance to the quarterfinals, with the next opponent to be determined. Buoyed by its landmark win, the squad is looking ahead to the knockout stage.
