A double-double by Poland’s Jeremy Sochan helped the San Antonio Spurs defeat the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves 113-103 on the NBA’s Saturday evening.

Keldon Johnson poured in a season-high 25 points off the bench for the Spurs. Sochan recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds, Victor Wembanyama hit for 17 points, Chris Paul racked up 15 points and 13 assists while Harrison Barnes tallied 14 points.

Julius Randle and Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 21 points each, while Donte DiVincenzo had 14, Naz Reid 11 points and Rudy Gobert 10.

San Antonio stunned Minnesota with a staunch defense. The team coached by Gregg Popovich scored a lot of points after steals which allowed them to build a slight advantage at halftime.

The Spurs never let the Timberwolves back in the game in the third and fourth periods, capturing their second straight win.

In the past two seasons, coach Gregg Popovich's team has been one of the league's weakest teams. Now, the Spurs are ninth in the Western Conference with a 3-3 record, tied with the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets.

Sochan has been in decent form since the beginning of the season, amassing two double-doubles in six games and falling only one rebound short of repeating the feat on two other occasions.

The Spurs will next face the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday.
