One of the largest microelectronics manufacturing plants in Russia caught fire following an overnight drone strike, Ukrainian-language media and Russian independent social media channels have reported.
The drone-struck Kremniy El plant is located in Bryansk, western Russia, a city just 100 kilometers north of Ukraine.
Kremyin El manufactures microelectronic components used in the construction of Iskander short-range ballistic missile systems and Pantsir anti-aircraft systems.
As of 2017, 94% of the plant’s output went to various military contractors operating at the behest of the Russian Ministry of Defense, ASTRA Telegram app channel reported.
According to Radio Svoboda, a Ukrainian-language service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, this is “at least the fourth time” the facility has been attacked using drones.
ASTRA reported that locals have spoken of a fire in the struck facility on the Internet. Videos of the explosions at the facility following the strikes have also made it onto the web.

Regional governor Alexander Bogomaz wrote in a post on his Telegram channel on Saturday morning, that “the enemy carried out a massive terrorist attack on the territory of our region,” saying that all seven unmanned aircraft involved in the attack were “intercepted and destroyed.”
He said: “As a result of the detonation of the explosive device of the downed drone, a fire broke out in the attic of a non-residential building,” adding that firefighters have “quickly extinguished the fire,” and that “There were no casualties.”
