One of Vladimir Putin’s residences, which hosted numerous world leaders, has been demolished due to the Russian leader’s alleged fears of a Ukrainian drone attack.
According to independent Russian investigative media outlet Proekt, the main building of Putin’s Bocharov Ruchey property in the southwestern Russian city of Sochi was demolished after satellite images showed a pit where the building once stood.
According to Proekt, the Russian leader tore down the villa over "fears for his life" following several Ukrainian drone attacks on sites in Sochi.
The outlet also reported that the Russian leader only spent eight days at the residence in 2023, which is markedly less frequent compared to the 30 days he usually spends there annually.

Built in 1955, Bocharov Ruchey used to be Putin’s summer residence, where he hosted many world leaders and visited with lover Alina Kabaeva, a former gymnast who is rumored to be the mother to two of his sons.
This year Putin didn’t make his regular trip to the residence to celebrate her birthday.
The villa is about 260 kilometers south of what has been called “Putin’s Palace,” a $1 billion residence that came to public attention in 2021 after being shown in a documentary film by the late opposition leader Alexei Navalny, which exposed Putin’s corruption and wealth.
