A Ukrainian drone battalion says it has repelled a Russian advance in the east of the country, destroying or damaging 40 armored vehicles.
Russian forces attempted an assault near the eastern village of Pishchane on September 26, deploying 50 armored vehicles, the commander of Ukraine’s Achilles unmanned aerial systems battalion, Yuriy Fedorenko, wrote on Telegram.
He added that Ukrainian forces from the Achilles battalion successfully repelled the attack, destroying 14 Russian vehicles and damaging 26 others.
Fedorenko said that Ukrainian forces also used drones to target Russian military dugouts and ammunition depots in the region, destroying three fortified positions and two ammunition warehouses.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s defense ministry announced on Friday that since the start of the conflict, Russia has lost 649,170 servicemen, 8,846 tanks and 17,396 armored combat vehicles.
He added that Ukrainian forces from the Achilles battalion successfully repelled the attack, destroying 14 Russian vehicles and damaging 26 others.
