Poland’s Paweł Wąsek secured his second consecutive win at the Summer Grand Prix event in Râșnov, central Romania, on Sunday.
The 25-year-old delivered an impressive 96-meter jump in the final round, beating Italy’s Alex Insam and Japan's Ren Nikaido to take the top spot once again.
Wąsek led after the first round with a 93-meter jump, narrowly ahead of Insam by 1.1 points. Nikaido, who was third, surged with a 95.5-meter jump, but Wąsek’s strong final effort, backed by high marks from the judges, clinched the victory.
The win follows his first-ever Grand Prix triumph on Saturday at the same venue.
The competition in Râșnov had a unique lineup, with Austria and Norway sending reserve teams and Germany and Slovenia absent. Despite the lower-profile field, Wąsek’s victory is a significant boost for the Polish team, which is aiming to secure a strong World Cup quota.
In the overall standings, Insam now leads the series with 273 points, just 10 ahead of Wąsek. The Summer Grand Prix will continue in Hinzenbach next weekend, followed by the final events in Klingenthal in early October.
