The prestigious 50 Top Pizza - Guide to the Best Pizzerias in the world have selected a restaurant in central Poland as 20th best in its list for Europe.

When compiling the list, a group of Italian pizza experts choose the best pizzerias from around the world, excluding those in Italy which appear on a separate list, for their guide and annual competition.

Zielona Górka located in Pabianice, near Łódź, took 97th place, and 20th in the list for Europe.

This is the third consecutive time that the pizzeria has made the list.

The chef responsible for preparing the pizzas is Jędrzej Lewandowski, who founded the restaurant with his wife Lilianna in 2015. They are both architects, but they decided to devote themselves to their greatest passion, which is Neapolitan pizza.

“Reliability, courteous service, high-quality ingredients and a friendly atmosphere are the hallmarks of this place, equipped with a Neapolitan oven with a characteristic crescent-shaped opening,” the jury gushed when describing the restaurant.

It added: “The selection of wines, beers and drinks in general is also worth recommending.”

Two other Polish pizzerias that were previously highly rated by the guide but did not make the list this year are Ostro from Gdańsk, which previously ranked 34th, and Ciao a Tutti from Warsaw, which made it to 38th.

Zielona Górka itself dropped in the ranking, having been placed 46th last time.

The guide rated London's Napoli on the Road as its number one in Europe, followed by Sartoria Panatieri from Barcelona and Via Toledo Enopizzeria in Vienna.
