German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday called on major powers including China, India, Brazil and South Africa to take greater responsibility in resolving the war in Ukraine.
On Sunday, Scholz called for a renewed effort to bring peace to Ukraine, adding that he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had both agreed in recent talks on the need for a new peace conference that would include Russia.
On Tuesday, Scholz told ambassadors accredited to Germany in a speech at the Chancellery: “With growing influence also comes increased responsibility in global issues. That's why it's so important that countries like China, India, Brazil, South Africa and many others get involved and make clear that this war must end.”
India’s national security advisor, Ajit Doval, arrives in Moscow this week, bringing with him, according to the Indian press, a peace plan for the Russia-Ukraine war he will present to Vladimir Putin.
