Donald Tusk, the Polish prime minister, has said that Poland can help the Ukrainian city of Lviv rebuild following a Russian missile strike that killed seven people and damaged a number of historic buildings.

The city in western Ukraine was attacked by drones and missiles on Wednesday morning.

“All of the affected buildings are located within the historic area and the UNESCO historical area and are listed in the state register of historical heritage of Ukraine,” said Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the regional military administration.

Reacting to the news of the attack on the X platform Tusk wrote: “Lviv needs help. Many historic tenement houses were damaged. Poland is ready to help rebuild them.”

Lviv's mayor, Andriy Sadovyi said among the damaged buildings was a villa dating back to 1893, which housed the Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.

The attack on Lviv occurred the day after the deadly strike on the city of Poltava, which claimed the lives of 51 people.
