Two paralympic table tennis players have added a third gold to Poland’s medal haul at the Paris games, beating their Chinese rivals in straight sets.
Patryk Chojnowski and Piotr Grudzień beat Chaodong Liu and Yiqing Zhao 3:0 (13:11, 11:8, 11:7) in the MD18 category on Sunday. Poland’s third gold brings the national medal tally to six (three gold, three bronze).
Grudzień had earlier bagged a bronze in the mixed doubles (XD17) with Karolina Pęk.
In a double feat, swimmer Kamil Otowski earlier won Poland’s first and second gold medals in the 100-meter and 50-meter S1 backstroke, respectively.
Another Polish paralympic athlete, Róźa Kozakowska, was stripped of a gold medal and world record in the club throw on Friday after being judged to have used unauthorized equipment.
