A Polish police officer embarked on an extraordinary cycling rally from the Eiffel Tower in Paris to Warsaw on Saturday morning.

Covering over 2,000 kilometers non-stop, Sebastian Nowacki’s journey is driven by a mission to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation.

The route is expected to take six days and conclude on September 5 in Warsaw at the Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Before his departure, Nowacki said: “I hope this event will encourage many people to donate blood, perhaps for the first time. I want to spread awareness that donating blood is safe and crucial, as it has a real impact on saving lives.”

Nowacki, 30, has been a police officer for over a decade. He has a history of undertaking solo long-distance cycling rides, often non-stop, with charitable purposes in mind.

Earlier this year, he completed a ride from Warsaw to Berlin, supporting fundraising for the treatment of a 19-year-old volunteer firefighter who suffered a severe craniofacial injury.

In December 2023, Nowacki set a record by cycling over 703 km from Zakopane (southern Poland) to Płock (central Poland) on a city bike within 72 hours, supporting a fundraiser for a young boy battling a malignant tumor.
